Words of Encouragement
Word Art Wednesday
Hello everyone. I decided I would try and blog about my Word Art Wednesday card, which I intend to try and enter every week. The challenge is all about using scripture and making a project with it. This week, the scripture is from Matthew chapter 5 verse 16, and it says:
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Here is a little semonette about this scripture from where I see it:
Predominantly it seems at first as if we are being told to let people see our 'good works', which actually goes against the grain for me. Yes, we should all be doing good works, but not so that WE get any thank you(s), or noticed, but so that other's can see that we whatever we are doing, it is done without fuss, so that other's will realise a higher power is helping us.....God is helping us. When Jesus touched the leper, he did many things e.g. Looking from the Sanhedrin's point of view He went against their law (they were never supposed to touch someone unclean). Looking at it from the leper's point of view.....he believed Jesus was able to heal him. He would have been in awe of the fact that someone dared to touch him, and he would have realised very quickly the benefit of what was about to happen and indeed what did happen.
In the scripture for this week, I believe we are being reminded that the 'good works' should really be seen by others as only possible because of God's love in us.
Here is the card:
I hope you like it.
I will blog about something else a little bit later on....it's time for tea now.

Hi, Annie! Thanks for sharing this beautiful card, and for sharing from your heart the insight God has given you regarding this verse. I completely agree that we are not supposed to show our good works so that others will think we're "so wonderful". When we were little, we all learned "This Little Light of Mine, I'm Gonna Let it Shine". This is because when we let our light shine (Jesus in us) and show our good works that He has laid on our hearts, then His Name can be glorified. We do not accept the praise for a good work, we just praise the One who helped us shine our light for Him. That's my take on it. We are saved BY grace THROUGH faith UNTO good works (Esphesians 2:8-10). I'm so grateful to you for sharing this with us and playing along in this week's challenge at Word Art Wednesday. May God bless you for sharing!
