2013 and I have decided
I am going to investigate all things Shabby Chic
So for my first attempt at Shabby, but Chic....here is a card I made for someone who was visiting us over the New Year and who loves all things bling:
Another photo of the same card:
I saw the main image somewhere, downloaded it, added Happy New Year to it and then printed a few copies onto kodak ultra premium gloss photographic paper. I then chose where to cut the pieces to make it decoupaged. The image is royalty free.
Using a pale cream A5 base card, I layered a wide holey lace onto the card, adhering it with anita's tacky glue. Once it was dry I trimmed it to fit the card. The main image was then fixed to the card using double sided sticky tape.
I decoupaged the pieces of the the torso, slightly bending the top part above the centre rose to make it shaped. I decoupaged the necklace too. Around the centre of the torso I layered pearls to highlight the fabric rose I glued to the image, and also fixed a metal heart charm to the waist.
Along the bottom I fixed cream lace with pink velvet along the centre, and down the right hand side I adhered white lace, using clear double-sided tape. Down the flat part of the white lace I glued pink gemstones and plain pearls.
On the left hand side I added organza pink ribbon layered with white satin and organza ribbon and tied a knot.
This is my first attempt at anything near shabby chic, and I hope it is more chic than shabby to those of you who take a peek.
Please leave me some feedback, as I really would appreciate it.
See you soon

Gorgeous card. I love all the lace and bling - it really goes with the image well.
ReplyDeleteThank you Gwyneth, that is so encouraging. Thank you for popping in and leaving a comment. I have spent all day die-cutting and maybe will do some more tomorrow, then I will make something with it .....I have managed to acquire some royalty free images to use so I have to work out what I will do with them.
