A Happy Day

A HAPPY DAY

Docrafts Blog Prompt Day 6

So, we were asked to pick a photograph that means something to us.  We don't have to say anything, but I probably will.........'cos I'm like that really!!!

Here is the photo:

Now I know they are dogs..............but they are my dogs  (well our dogs if you have to include my hubby)!  The one on the left is called Jazz and we have had him since he was 4 months old.  The one on the right is Bess, and we have had her since she was 4 years old.

Jazz has always been a people dog, and playful and full of life......his only downfall is that he is sometimes very clumsy and doesn't realise it, so he can trip you up if you are not careful around him.  He is also a very big border collie............he came from a shepherdess, way up in the Highlands from a place called Garve.  We love him so much.

Bess was a working dog until she was 4, when she was going to be sent to the border collie rescue centre, by the same lady we got Jazz from, because she was retiring from being a shepherdess.  So we said, don't do that, we'll have her.

Well, what a challenge that was.  Bess did not answer to words..........she did not know her name..........the only things she responded to were whistles and hand signs (as we found out eventually)!!!

The other thing about Bess was that she was very scared of wide open spaces, and where we live is just wide open spaces....so we had a dilemma from the start.

We took them both to a place called Strathlene
which are you can see..is very wide and open and goes along way.  To the left of the bandstand is the sea.

The very fist time we took Bess there she got out of the car, with Jazz, and then as I went to get out of the car she jumped straight into the footwell!!!  So that was her actions.  No matter where we took her she just ran straight back into the car.  If I managed to get out, she would run and hide underneath it!!!

Teaching her to respond to voice was interesting, but we eventually got there.

Th reason I have put the picture up of the two of them having been playing in the snow...........just shows me how far Bess has come on and how happy she is now.  She is learning to become a pet and enjoys cuddles  and human company now so much more than we thought she would.

Bess and Jazz get on really well, but Bess is her own dog........she actually is the boss, which surprised us as we thought Jazz would be as he is so strong-willed.  However, one little low growl from Bess and he becomes the perfect gentleman.  Isn't that funny?

I would have loved to have made a scrap-book page, but my printer is out of ink and I am waiting for a delivery to arrive (which won't be until Tuesday at the earliest) because of theBank Holiday!!!!!!!  So the pictures will just have to do.

Here is a photo of Jazz which I think shows him off beautifully:

And here is one of Bess:

And finally, before I sign off, I thought I would show you pictures of some cards I made using photo's of Jazz as he was growing up:

The photographs are not that great, as I was new to everything crafty:

So you see...not only can I not just say nothing....I can't just put up one photograph either...........sorry about that!!!!!

Music, Love and Laughter

Music For the Soul

Docrafts Blog Prompt Day 5

So today, we were asked to make a card inspired by a song that is important to us or means something to us........WOW!  There is so much to speak about and I can only pick one song.

Well, in light of recent activities in my household and with my friends, it just has to be this one:

I just love this song as it always cheers me up.

The card I made is a fun card (for me anyway!)  and I used freebie mister men tags, backing paper and an embellishment.  I used the free card that came with a crafty magazine and cut the corners to make it interesting.  I then cut the backing paper with a fancy cutting scissors and layered a scalloped oval and plain oval die cut in the centre.  I then used foam pads to stick the two tags on which say 'Best Mate' and 'You are My Sunshine', which I had tied together using purple ribbon.  A little smiley embellishment finishes it off beautifully.

Here you go:

So you see, even when it's raining or snowing outside or just blowing a gale................it can always be sunshine in my head.

I could have used many different modern songs but I have to say that today, this is my favourite song and it has inspired the child within me to come out and play.

See you tomorrow

Style or No style?

Docrafts 31 Day Blog Prompt

Day 4

So today we have been asked to talk about the style of crafting we do.  Now this could mean, what kinds of things do I like to make or it could mean am I a tidy crafter.....or not?

First of all, let's get something cleared up ............I AM NOT A TIDY CRAFTER !   I have to admit it, because I have a lady who comes and helps me in the house and I won't repeat what she says to me sometimes after I've had a really busy crafty time.......it's just a pity there are no emocions in blogger otherwise I'd have to use the one that wags a finger at me!!!!!!!

My style of crafting is interesting (for me anyway) because sometimes I make girlie things and other times I make steampunk things, and i have been known to bleach and screw up paper just to make it look used.

My favourite style has to be STEAMPUNK

The reason I like it is because it is so versatile and you can use anything from newspaper to string to ribbon and buttons all on the one card.....fabulous!!

I also love making word cards, using the names of people:  Like this one:

and of course it has to have a tag:

I particularly love the word cards as they can be personalised with photographs and all sorts of things that means something to person receiving it.

Then there are downloads:  I just love using downloads to make cards with:

Here are a few downloads I bought and made:

Having just done the above, I have realised that there are no children's cards here.  Well, that must be what I should try and do more of I suppose.  But I really love making cards for people in general.

I do have another side to me, however, that many people won't know about, and that's my faith...I am a Christian so that can come over in verses I compose for my cards, but usually only if asked.....I am not going to preach at you, so don't worry, but I make Christian cards for people too:

Not forgetting that I make posters, but I don't have photographs of them as they are usually done to commission and are gone very quickly to their owners.  Here is a picture of an image I used and then put writing over the top:

I put the word THANKS near the bottom of this image, written in White Dakota font.  I use quotes and scripture to make posters out of too.

I know this is not about what I make, but what style I use, and I suppose that I am trying to say my style varies with what is ordered.  I just don't make something because I like it, I make something hoping that someone else is going to fall in love with it.

I will finish with this one:  I love making stepper cards and tend to make all my Christmas ones in various forms of steppers.  This is a Special Day card in Regency style.

So, I will end by saying that I have no idea what style of crafting I do..........anyone out there care to give it a guess??

Love and hugs

See you tomorrow
